Today is a hard day in the Fun Size house, it’s the birthday and angelversary of our sweet angel boy Anthony Maddox.  Maybe some Friday Favorites will help lighten the mood around here.

I think it might be a tie for this one.  I love both Pocket & Flipboard equally.

What I love about pocket: Find something interesting on facebook & twitter & you want to read it but don’t have time right this minute?  ”Share” to Pocket  and read it when you have time.  What’s different about bookmarking it you ask? It syncs your articles to all of your devices from pc, to smartphone, to tablet & more and you don’t have to delete it from your bookmarks when you’re done if you don’t want to keep it… just mark it as read and viola.  I’ve used it for at least 10 different photography articles just this week alone.  Find something you want to read while on your smartphone but would rather read it on your pc or tablet’s larger screen? Just “share” to Pocket and D O N E.  You can also add extensions to your web browsers to make saving on your pc or mac even easier.  Oh and did I mention it’s a F R E E app??

Flipboard for Android | Flipboard for Apple

Oh em gee this one is just so pretty to look at!  It combines news, twitter, facebook, instagram, tumbler, & so much more into an elegant magazine style interface that you just “flip” through.  Ever wanted to zoom on an instagram photo? Hey you can do that here!!! You get to chose what topics of news you want to see too, which makes me happy… I don’t have to see sports updates if I don’t want to {but I want to right now with NOTRE DAME in the freaking National Championship on the 7th! gooooo fightin’ irish! proud Irish girl right here}  You can also share to any of your favorite social networks within the app {even share tweets to facebook, and facebook to tumbler, or any combination you can think of}.  It also works great with Pocket But my favorite part really truly is just how pretty it makes status updates & tweets to look at! I’ve even added a typography stream that keeps the designer in me totally satisfied.

While we’re talking about social networks, have you liked me on Facebook, followed me on Twitter, Instagram, & Pinterest?? Nooo? Well darn it you should!

Favorite Recipe

Nachos with Chicken & Black Beans

I asked Rich to find a recipe for our New Years Eve snackage.  He pulled up my pinterest boards on his phone and drooled over this pin.  Bonus, it’s from Eat This Not That, so it’s better for you than the average nacho!  I warn you, the ingredient list doesn’t include chicken or the cilantro.  I just picked up a rotisserie chicken & used most of a bundle of cilantro.  Also, it’s not “cilantro salsa” it’s cilantro, salsa as in 2 separate ingredients!  Be careful when making your shopping list! Good thing I had my phone with me when I realized I hadn’t put chicken on my list, but knew the nachos were chicken nachos.  I quickly pulled up the pin & then the recipe, and realized how I’d forgotten it, and also noticed that because of the way it’s written I also missed the cilantro {I didn’t have salsa on the list because we currently have 5 different types in our fridge!}.  Aside from the mistakes in the ingredient list, this is one DELICIOUS recipe! Rich and I both couldn’t believe how good it was!  We are definitely keeping and making this one over and over again.  Oh and I added banana peppers to mine instead of the jalapenos {I’m still having a hard time eating some really spicy things postpartum, but little by little my spice tolerance is getting better}

Isn’t this just too precious for words?? It really tugs at the heart strings.  If you are in, or will be in Cali and can get to Fairfield, Vacaville, and surrounding areas, you really need to check out Christina Hamre Photography!  She’s one of the best maternity & newborn photographers I know.  She totally rocks my socks off.  What more can I say about this photograph though, it speaks for itself, which is a sign of truly good photography, it needs no explanation.

I found this blog through their giveaway for Jo Totes & iPad mini, and stuck around because they are awesome!  {if you want to enter, hurry, as of writing time there’s about 2 hours left on the giveaway}  Their crafts & diy are right up my ally.  I can’t wait to follow them all year long & try out some of their ideas!   Like these cuuute letters. I think I might have to try to make these for Valentines photo sessions over at Maddox Photography. Don’t you think they would be great for a family session?
